World Premiere March 5, 2022 by James Madison University Symphony Orchestra; feat. dance and choreography by Ashley Thursby

Louisville Ballet dancer and choreographer, Ashley Thursby joins composer Erich Stem in a visual and musical portrayal of the Shenandoah region. Commissioned by music director Foster Beyers, “Shenandoah” will be premiered March 5, 2022 by the James Madison University Symphony Orchestra at the Forbes Center for the Performing Arts alongside a film that shows impressive scenes of the valley interwoven with captivating dance elements.

Starting Point with A/Tonal

EP release featuring music by Erich Stem and Daniel Gilliam with the A/Tonal Ensemble

Funded by Indiana University’s (Southeast) Regional Research and Creativity Initiative, Starting Point showcases music from the Louisville region, featuring works by resident composers Daniel Gilliam and Erich Stem. The album cover was designed from a picture of the historic Heigold House, the last remaining structure of the 19th century neighborhood in Louisville called “The Point.” A/Tonal members on album release: Carrie RavenStem (clarinet), Jessica Dorman (piano), Robert Simonds (violin), and Felix Borges (cello)
